Iskren Veselinov: We are not talking about creating a political party "VMRO - Ivan Mihaylov"

Our current struggle is to gather all the people who were pushed away by the current leadership, and that civic energy that can make the state realize its responsibility for the Bulgarians in the RSM

We are not talking about creating a political party at the moment, VMRO is something much more - it is a movement of people who have specific ideas and draw inspiration from the past of this glorious organization, and the party (its registration as a party) was supposed to be only an instrument for the realization of these ideas, but over the years the party has eaten the movement.

This was said to the Bulgarian National Radio by Iskren Veselinov, former co-chairman of VMRO and former MP, creator of the "VMRO - Ivan Mihaylov" Association, emphasizing that the goal of the new formation is "to restore the ideological direction in its original way".

"Our current struggle is to gather all the people who were pushed away by the current leadership, and that civic energy that can make the state realize its responsibility for the Bulgarians in the RSM, in the Western Suburbs and in general on the Balkan Peninsula, where they continue to be persecuted," he emphasized.

According to him, whether they will participate in any form in elections and whether they will support certain political entities - they are yet to decide in the association "VMRO - Ivan Mihaylov".

When asked if they were not yet another nationalist formation, Veselinov said that he did not know of any other nationalist movement in Bulgaria that clearly states that the country's geopolitical interests coincide with European ones.

On July 22, Iskren Veselinov announced that he was leaving the VMRO, indicating that "the current chairman (Krassimir Karakachanov - editor's note) is leading it to liquidation, replacing its ideological foundation, breaks up its structures and chases away those loyal to the cause".

"IMRO cannot remain silent when Serbia is trying to become a regional superpower and is directing things in North Macedonia", he said.
