Tourists are parking their cars en masse on the dunes on the beach in Durankulak. The beach bordered the Durankulak Lake. Both sites should be protected, but for another year there has been a gross violation of the laws.
For 6 years, car access to the attractive beach in Durankulak has been free - the dunes, the vegetation on them and the animal species are being destroyed.
„There was a barrier at the beginning of the beach. Now it has been removed. There was a sign that prohibited entry. It was also removed with the explanation that there is actually no road and there is no way, according to Bulgarian law, to have a sign. But it is clear that there is already an almost two-lane road, which was made precisely as a result of the fact that people are actually constantly crossing it. On weekdays, there is less traffic. On Saturdays and Sundays, there is much more and, accordingly, there are hundreds of cars parked directly on the dunes,” Ivan Nachev from the group “Friends of Durankulak” tells Nova TV.
There is also a large free parking lot in the immediate vicinity, and in an attempt to stop this illegal practice, the Ministry of Environment put up a huge sign two years ago, which turns out to be invisible to drivers.
„A little further south, in the direction of Krapets, there is a whole city of caravans that are parked directly on the dunes and that are rented out all summer. Obviously, no institution can react”, claims Ivan Nachev from the group “Friends of Durankulak”.
He has filed signals with the responsible institutions, but according to him, without result. “It is a question of collusion between several different authorities - the local authorities, the regional administration. The police, of course, because they also do not react most often to signals that there are such parked cars. And of course the Regional Inspectorate for Environment and Water - Varna”.
The regional governor does not have the authority to establish violations and impose sanctions, the administration in Dobrich announced. Therefore, a working group will be formed with representatives of the police and environmental inspectors.
“Such signals have been received for many years and this year is no exception - several signals were received from citizens and institutions. A group is currently being created to visit the relevant sites, mainly on the territory of Shabla Municipality, said Veselin Dimitrov, chief expert at the Dobrich Regional Administration.
The most reports have been filed for the beach "Krapets Sever". "That is where the most reports have been filed by citizens for illegal parking on the sand dunes and the placement of campers, caravans and tents, which are in contradiction with the law," Dimitrov said.
Every year, acts are issued for the violations, but it is not clear whether the fines have been paid. It is also not yet clear when the ordinance for the temporary placement of tents, campers and caravans will finally come into force.
