Ivaylo Mirchev: Boyko Borisov becomes a mere advertising agent for Peevski's new state-run stores

“Shops for the people“ is another behind-the-scenes stunt disguised as social policy. Borisov becomes a mere advertising agent for Peevski's new state-run stores, and the government is making a sharp turn towards left-wing turbopopulism.“ This was stated by the co-chair of “Yes, Bulgaria“ Ivaylo Mirchev on the occasion of today's decision of the Council of Ministers to give the green light to the initiative promoted by Delyan Peevski to open state-run food stores.

According to Mirchev, when Peevski and Borisov start taking care of “ordinary people”, all alarms should go off. “Because they have never done anything without a reason – and never in the interest of society. Now they are creating a state shop – supposedly to be cheap, supposedly to have justice. The truth? Control. PR. Money. And more power. Instead of reforms – shop windows,“ said the MP.

The MP is convinced that this is not real help for the vulnerable, but a scheme implemented without public debate, with the tacit consent of ministers who carry out Peevski's orders. And everything is according to the familiar model: behind the scenes, opaque, brazen.

The co-chair of “Yes, Bulgaria“ recalled the measures for turbo-competition proposed by the DB, which aim to control prices. Against this background, according to Mirchev, GERB is offering turbo-left populism, turning into a turbo-populist and leftist formation.

The MP also commented on Borisov's behavior in this situation. “Without a face - a hostage to Peevski's whims. Borisov increasingly looks like a dog kept on Peevski's short leash. The goal is not to help people, but to cement a new DS-business brotherhood – with a food chain of influence. They will “help” the people, while the Taki, Orlinovtsi, Krasyochernevtsi absorb, distribute, appoint. This is not economic policy. This is political bribery – in its crudest form,“ said Ivaylo Mirchev.

According to Mirchev, Borisov stands aside and watches while Peevski takes over the state sector by sector, institution by institution. At the same time, GERB is silent because it is already a hostage – “A party without a face, with a leader who pays with public resources the price of his own fear.“

Ivaylo Mirchev is categorical that his formation cannot accept “this thieving sham, presented as social care. We offer real solutions based on competition, transparency and reforms, not on Peevski's schemes and Borisov's cowardly silence.“

According to the MP, it is time for citizens to choose between a sham showcase and real modernization of the country. “Bulgaria can do more. But not with these people. And not in this way,“ Ivaylo Mirchev is categorical.”
