The first real step towards restoring the Simeonovski lift has been implemented!

This is what Sofia Mayor Vasil Terziev wrote on his personal Facebook page. Here is what else he shared:

"I received an officially submitted project from the owner of the lift – „Vitosha Ski“ AD (TechnoAlpin).

When we presented a Vision for Vitosha in April, we clearly stated what needs to happen for Sofia to have lifts again. Then we developed a specific roadmap, indicating the necessary actions and the responsible institutions: https://vitosha.me/roadmap

We also stated that if the investor does not complete the first step - a conceptual design by the end of August - we will look for an alternative path to restore the Vitosha lifts.

So, at the beginning of August we have a result - a submitted project!

The project includes developments by the two leading lift manufacturers in the world, including calculations for line capacity and changes to the poles and stations of the currently non-working lift.

From now on, the following is to be done:

analysis of the legal framework (responsibility of the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Environment and Water and the National Assembly);

update of the Management Plan of the “Vitosha“ Nature Park (responsibility of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water and the Council of Ministers);

adoption of detailed development plans (responsibility of Sofia Municipality).

We are already working on the necessary urban planning procedures. Sofia Municipality will make maximum efforts to do its job – we will also help other responsible parties to do theirs.

Any citizen who wants to contribute can support the process by signing the petition for sustainable development of Vitosha on the Vision for Vitosha page: https://vitosha.me/petition
