Young man jumps off cliffs near Sozopol and dies, girl in hospital

22-year-old man disappears into waves. His body was later found stuck in the rocks of Cape Agalina

A tragic accident claimed the life of a 22-year-old Uzbek citizen and an 18-year-old Ukrainian woman was hospitalized with pneumonia after the two jumped off the cliffs of Cape Agalina, between the "Veselie" camping site and the "Dyuni" resort village, police reported.

The incident occurred at around 6:30 p.m. on August 7.

According to the information, the young people jumped into the water, but due to the strong excitement and the stormy waves they began to drown. Random citizens came to the rescue and managed to pull the girl out of the water. She was immediately transported and admitted for treatment at the University Hospital - Burgas with a diagnosis of pneumonia.

Unfortunately, the 22-year-old man disappeared into the waves. His body was later spotted stuck in the rocks of Cape Agalina.

On August 9, at around 09:30, after improving weather conditions and reducing the excitement, a team from the Regional Directorate "Fire Safety and Population Protection" - Burgas managed to remove the body.

An autopsy is due to be performed in the "Forensic Medicine" department at the University Hospital - Burgas, to establish the exact cause of death. Pre-trial proceedings have been initiated in the Regional Directorate - Sozopol.
