Three people were injured in an accident on the Elhovo-Burgas road, bTV reports.
The road accident occurred at 16:50 at the junction for the village of Malomirovo between a car and a military UAZ vehicle.
Police and ambulance teams have been dispatched to the scene.
The injured were transported to hospital. They are two servicemen, one of whom is in serious condition, and the driver of the car.
Captain Nikolay Ivanov Iliev and the driver Senior Sergeant Georgi Dimitrov Georgiev from the Land Forces were seriously injured in the accident.
During the transportation of the injured servicemen to the Yambol Hospital, Captain Nikolay Iliev died. He is a platoon commander, serving in the Bulgarian Army since January 23, 1995.
This was later clarified by the press center of the Ministry of Defense.
Senior Sergeant Georgi Georgiev was admitted to the hospital in Yambol for treatment.
The alcohol and drug tests of the driver of the military vehicle were negative.
Traffic in the area has been temporarily restricted. A detour route has been introduced: along the I-7 Elhovo - Yambol road and the II-53 Kalchevo - Sredets road.
