The average gross monthly salary in the second quarter of 2025 is 2572 lv. and increases compared to the first quarter of 2025 by 5.3 percent, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) announced, reported DarikNews.
The economic activities in which the largest increase was registered are “Education" - by 21.2 percent, “Public Administration" - by 17.9 percent, and “Mining Industry" - by 8.5 percent. This is shown by preliminary data from the National Statistical Institute (NSI).
The average gross monthly salary for April 2025 is 2588 BGN, for May - 2582 BGN, and for June - 2547 BGN. A report in the NSI shows that in the same months of 2024 it was 2303 BGN, 2310 BGN, and 2276 BGN, respectively.
Compared to the second quarter of 2024, the average salary increased by 12 percent, with the largest increase in the economic activities: "Education" - by 19.1 percent, "Culture, sports and entertainment" - by 17.7 percent, and "Water supply; sewerage services, waste management and remediation" - by 16 percent.
A report from the NSI indicates that in the second quarter of 2024 the average salary was 2296 leva and increased compared to the previous quarter by 4.5 percent, and the economic activities with the largest increase in the average remuneration were: "Public administration" - by 13.1 percent, "Education" - by 9.7 percent, and "Hotel and restaurant services" - by 9.2 percent. On an annual basis, the average salary increased by 17.3 percent and its increase was greatest in: "Public administration" - by 29.7 percent, "Other activities" - by 26.6 percent, "Hotel and restaurant activities" and "Education" - by 25.4 percent each.
In the second quarter of 2025, compared to the same period of the previous year, the average monthly salary in the public sector increased by 13.8 percent, and in the private sector - by 11.4 percent.

The economic activities with the highest average monthly salary of employees under employment and service contracts in the second quarter of 2025: "Creation and dissemination of information and creative products; telecommunications" - 5551 leva; "Financial and insurance activities" - 3763 leva; "Production and distribution of electricity, heat and gaseous fuels" - 3592 leva.
The lowest paid were those employed in: "Hotel and restaurant services" - 1581 leva; "Agriculture, forestry and fishing" - 1688 leva; "Other activities" - 1780 leva.

The number of employees under employment and service contracts at the end of June 2025 increased by 31,200, or 1.3 percent, compared to the end of March 2025, reaching 2.38 million. At the end of June 2025, compared to the end of June 2024, the number of employees increased by 36,200, or 1.5 percent. A report from the National Statistical Institute shows that the number of employed persons at the end of June 2024 was 2.35 million, which was 1.2 percent more than at the end of March 2024. At the end of June 2024, compared to the end of June 2023, the number of employed persons increased by 15,600 or 0.7 percent.
