A fire engulfed about 20 properties on the outskirts of the Sliven village of Seliminovo yesterday afternoon. Outbuildings burned down, people's homes were saved. The fire has been extinguished.
The fire started from the eastern end of the village and spread very quickly due to the strong wind, Mayor Todor Todorov told the Bulgarian National Radio. He also indicated the cause of its occurrence:
"Human negligence. A person. Children, but we don't know who they are."
The fire engulfed Atanaska's yard. The bus they use to go for herbs, produce left for drying, and a room with alfalfa for the animals burned down.
"A bus burned down here. A ton of our goods burned down. The wood burned down upstairs. A ton of damage. I don't know who will cover the damage now?", says Atanaska.
Petyo's house was saved by a coincidence:
"The entire yard burned down, but we managed to save the house because there were vegetables planted and plowed, and that's why".
No one was injured in the fire. Firefighters and forest officials are patrolling the area of the fire to prevent it from happening again.
