A bear was spotted in a park near the urban area of Troyan. While walking in the morning, a resident of the city saw the animal and reported it to the municipality. Stefan Valev spotted the bear, bTV reported.
„Yesterday, returning from a walk in the park, on one of the stairs I saw a muzzle, at first I thought it was a dog, but then I saw a beast standing on its hind legs and looking at me, we were 5 meters apart. I didn't have a phone, I just froze“, he says.
„I started to walk away, it fell back to its feet and left. Yesterday I saw a bear here for the first time“, Valev also pointed out.
“There are concerns among people. We have taken measures – a broad information campaign to explain to citizens what they should do to protect themselves when encountering the animal. A large part of the fruit trees did not bear fruit, the bears have no food in the highlands and are coming down to look for food“, pointed out Donka Mihaylova, mayor of Troyan. According to her, some beehives have already been destroyed.
