A young man of about 30 years old died yesterday in the area of Musala Peak, the Mountain Rescue Service of the Bulgarian Red Cross announced.
A report of the incident was filed at 1:07 p.m. The man fell and was unconscious between Musala Peak and the shelter near one of the lakes.
A team from the “Air Emergency Medical Assistance Center“ arrived at the scene by medical helicopter, which confirmed his death.
The operation to remove the body lasted until 8:00 p.m., the rescue service specified.
Currently, there is no information about other incidents, and the conditions for tourism in the mountains are good – clear and sunny, with light to moderate wind in places, added the Meteorological Service.
During the day, it will be sunny over most of the country. In the afternoon, temporary increases in cloudiness are expected in the southern and western regions. The wind will be moderate, from the east-northeast, and maximum temperatures will reach between 30° and 35°, for Sofia - around 31°.
