A scheduled repair temporarily stops the heat supply in a large part of Sofia from September 1 to 9, the website of "Toplofikatsiya Sofia" announced. From 1:00 a.m. on September 1 to 11:59 p.m. on September 9, 2025, the heat supply will be temporarily suspended in a number of metropolitan districts. The reason is the upcoming scheduled repair of the "Sofia Iztok" TPP and the adjacent heat transfer network - part of the annual maintenance of the main and auxiliary facilities.
The following districts will be affected by the interruption: "Hristo Smirnenski" residential district, "Geo Milev" residential district, "Iztok" residential district, "Izgrev" residential district "Dianabad", g.k. "Mladost 1, 1A, 2, 3, 4", quarter "Musagenitsa", quarter "Polygona", quarter "Studentski Grad", quarter "Vitosha", quarter "Malinova Dolina", g.k. "Durvenitsa", g.k. "Druzhba 1 and 2", "Hladilnika" quarter, part of "Lozenets" quarter: in the square between "Filip Kutev" St., "Simeonovsko Shose" Blvd., "Stoyan Mihailovski" St., "Arch. Yordan Milanov", "Borova Gora" St., "Mitropolit Kiril Vidinski" St., "Elin Pelin" St., "Midzhur" St., "Krum Popov" St., "Arsenalski" Blvd., "Bogatitsa" St., "Kozhuh Planina" St., South Park, "Kozyak" St. and "Emiliyan Stanev" St., "Lozenets" University Hospital (Government Hospital), US Embassy, part of "Yavorov" district: in the square between "Mihai Eminescu" Blvd., "Tsarigradsko Shose" Blvd., "Alexander Zhendov" and Blvd. "Shipchenski Prohod", "Industrial Area - Iskar Station", "Vranya" Complex - BAS and NIMH, OP "Zoo - Sofia".
During the repair, worn-out fittings and compromised heat pipes will be replaced, as well as a complete inspection of the facilities at the TPP will be carried out, in order to ensure reliable heating during the winter season 2025/2026, the company indicates.
