More cases of dangerous driving at breakneck speed on the "Trakia" highway. Over 200 speeding violations were detected in the Sliven section of the road during an operation over the weekend. In two of the cases, drivers were driving at 206 and 218 km/h, Nova TV reported.
“The fine for driving at 218 km/h is 800 leva. It has already been paid”, said Commissioner Dimitar Kikyev from the “Security Police”, ODMVR – Sliven.
He assured that daily control is carried out on the highway. “There is an increased presence on Saturday and Sunday, with both branded and unbranded cars. Our main goal is to eliminate aggressive drivers”, Commissioner Kikyov also said.
On weekends, there are two branded and one unbranded car on the road.
Three drivers were caught driving in the emergency lane, two were driving for a long time behind a branded car with a special traffic regime in the left lane. Drivers were also caught overtaking incorrectly.
With electronic speed tickets, the fine goes to the owner of the car. He can fill out a declaration, indicating the details of the driver who was driving.
The Commissioner also explained that so far, points are not deducted for speeding. With the latest amendments to the Road Traffic Act, which come into force on September 7, outside a built-up area, if the speed exceeds 50 km/h, the license is revoked, and in a built-up area - over 40. A report is also drawn up.
“When it is a ticket, it is issued to the owner, regardless of whether he has a driving license or not. But when he has exceeded the speed limit, then the penalty of deprivation of driving rights is imposed. Then an invitation is necessarily served and the driver who was driving appears”, explained Kikyov.
