The work on the renovation of a building from which an 80-year-old man fell and died in Svishtov has been suspended, said the mayor of the municipality Gencho Genchev, quoted by BTA.
The contractor, as well as the supervisory company responsible for the safety of the site, will be sanctioned.
The municipality of Svishtov is only the contracting authority for the construction and assembly works, the mayor added.
The activity on the site has been suspended by my order and will not be resumed until the building is made safe, Genchev explained.
The incident occurred last week, when an 80-year-old man fell from the balcony of his apartment, which was not secured. This led to a fatality. The reason was the removal of the balcony railings due to ongoing renovation of the apartment building, the mayor also said.
