260 schools will have an autumn matriculation exam in Bulgarian language and literature

Tomorrow's state matriculation exam in Bulgarian language and literature from the August-September session will be held in 260 schools in the country. Over 6,000 people are expected to appear.

The exam starts at 8:30 a.m. Matriculation students must be at school at least 30 minutes early, bring an identity document and their official notes.

The test, which will be generated early in the morning at the Ministry of Education and Science, consists of 22 multiple-choice questions, 16 short-answer questions and two extended-answer questions. The last 41 questions include writing an essay on a given topic or an interpretive composition on one or several studied works of art.

The Matura exam tests knowledge and skills in grammar, spelling, vocabulary, ability to create a text, and information retrieval. Young people who have not taken previous exams or who already have a secondary education diploma but want to change their grade in order to apply to university take exams at this session.

The maximum number of points on the exam is 100.

The results will be announced by September 5.

On Monday (August 25), also at 8:30 a.m., the second mandatory exam will be held in subjects of the student's choice, as well as in profession. Exams in 22 subjects will be held in 177 schools, and for acquiring a professional qualification – in 391 schools.
