Deepening cooperation between Bulgaria and Germany in the defense sector. This was one of the topics that President Rumen Radev discussed with his German counterpart - President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
The conversation between the two comes a day after the meeting of our head of state with the CEO of “Rheinmetall“ Armin Paperger, at which it became clear that the German concern is ready for a contract with two ammunition and gunpowder plants in Bulgaria,, bTV indicated.
The meeting between the presidents of Germany and Bulgaria at the “Bellevue“ Palace recently ended in Berlin.
Yesterday, Radev was an official guest at the opening of a new “Rheinmetall“ plant in Lower Saxony. During it, it became clear that the German defense concern is ready to sign a contract with Bulgaria within three weeks for the construction of two plants - for artillery ammunition and gunpowder.
Armin Paperger explained that by 2035, all of Barut's production could be done in Bulgaria, the investment is worth one billion euros.
The government assured that they are ready for this to be realized within a year and a half.
