By the end of the week, nearly 80% of compensation for frost damage to the damaged fruit trees of agricultural producers will be paid. This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Ivan Kapitanov at a meeting with agricultural producers from the region. “Nearly 1,900 applications will be paid for the first group – cherries, sour cherries and apricots”, he specified.

The Deputy Minister explained that checks on the remaining applications for which payment has not been received will continue until September 19, as the data is incomplete in order for them to be assessed by the commission. It will consider the applications in stages and will not wait for a large number of them to accumulate. The applications will be processed within a week and all those whose agricultural areas are in good agrotechnical condition will receive the support as soon as possible - by the end of September.

“For the first time within the year, we are making payments in such a huge volume - 32 million leva, and to such a large number of areas and beneficiaries within the same calendar year“, emphasized Deputy Minister Kapitanov and indicated that the Ministry of Agriculture is doing everything possible to pay the compensation to the farmers as quickly as possible.

According to him, an order has already been issued for the remaining farmers to announce an event for the second group of crops - plums, peaches, nectarines, almonds, etc., and applications are pending after a decision by the Management Board of the State Fund “Agriculture“.
