A fire broke out near the Plovdiv village of Belashtitsa. The fire reached the first houses, Nova TV reports.
The flames started from abandoned fields and engulfed dry grass, bushes and trees, near the "Chinarite" park.
Three fire trucks responded to the scene. Volunteers from the village also joined in the fight against the fire. Only the quick reaction of firefighters and citizens stopped the fire to the first houses. No buildings were affected.
In addition to residential buildings, there are several workshops and the women's monastery "St. George". The smoke from the fire rose dozens of meters and could be seen as far as Plovdiv.
