The Sofia Inspectorate and the "Vazrazhdane" district conducted a joint campaign to clear a dangerous and growing unregulated landfill on "Dobrudzhanski Kray" street, near Russian Monument. This was announced by the press center of the Sofia Municipality.
In addition to an illegal waste dump, the place had also become a gathering point for vagrants. According to the Municipality, it posed a risk to the health of people in the area. The residents left completely voluntarily after the start of the cleanup campaign, news.bg specified.
13 tons of waste were removed, including bulky and construction waste, as well as a broken container for household waste, arbitrarily and unregulatedly moved from another location. Extensive pruning of the overgrown vegetation around the site was also carried out.
The cleaning of the site is part of the consistent efforts of the Sofia Inspectorate to introduce order and cleanliness in the city, following the reform launched by the administration of Mayor Vasil Terziev.
The Sofia Inspectorate has taken action on more than 17,000 signals during the first six months of the year.
