A black leopard was filmed near the village of Krainitsi in Dupnitsa.
The footage shows a large cat walking among the tall grass in the field near the settlement.
The mayor of the village Desislav Nachov confirmed to Nova TV that he - together with the police - had made a tour of the place where the video was made. The uniformed officers are currently questioning the person who filmed the footage.
According to Nachov, it has yet to be decided whether a crisis headquarters will be formed to search for the animal.
"This depends on the judgment of the police. The person who filmed the video described the animal he saw as resembling a large dog," said Desislav Nachov.
