There have been no reports or data on injured Bulgarian citizens in the incident with the “Gloria“ funicular in the Portuguese capital Lisbon, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) announced to BTA.
The competent authorities are continuing the procedures for identifying the victims, and the nationalities of the injured have not been announced yet. Our diplomatic mission is monitoring the development of the case, the ministry added.

The death toll from the derailment of a funicular in Lisbon yesterday has reached 17, emergency services said today, as quoted by the Associated Press. Two of the victims died in hospital that night. This brings the number of injured to 21. The names or nationalities of the deceased have not been released.
Today is a day of national mourning in Portugal, AFP reported. According to initial information, one of the funicular's cables snapped and it went down, derailed and hit a house. The causes of the accident are unclear and an investigation is underway.
