The brutal attack against the director of the ODMVR - Ruse, Senior Commissioner Nikolay Kozhuharov is an act of violence that arouses anger and indignation. What's more - it is a manifestation of an extremely dangerous syndrome of impunity and lack of respect of young people for law enforcement agencies, law and order in the country.
This is stated in a statement by the leader of the DPS-New Beginning Delyan Peevski after the beating of the director of the police in Ruse, Senior Commissioner Nikolay Kozhuharov! Here are more of Peevski's words:
In expressing my full sympathy and support for the speedy recovery of Senior Commissioner Nikolay Kozhuharov, I also express my full support for the thousands of police officers and law enforcement officers who conscientiously perform their official duties and proudly carry out their duties.
I insist on immediate action to identify the perpetrators of this heinous act and to apply the full severity of the law to them.
Because the attitude towards and respect for law enforcement is the basis for guaranteeing order and security for people in the country.
This case will be another test for the Bulgarian court and its tendency to be unnecessarily lenient towards perpetrators of traffic crimes, road vandalism and hooligan acts of violence, such as the case of the young man who killed three people with his car in Razgrad.
A country in which minors and young people can act so brazenly, as if the rules do not apply to them, for whom human life and health are not a value, dooms their future. Respect and deference to police officers and law enforcement officers are the basis for protecting the health and safety of people.
