„Yes, Bulgaria“ categorically condemns the brutal attack against the police chief in Ruse. This is what the formation wrote on its Facebook page.

Such acts of violence are incompatible with the principles of the rule of law and civil society and shake the feeling of security and order. The protection of institutions and their representatives is fundamental to the functioning of any state governed by the rule of law, the political party noted, quoted by BTA.

"There are four detainees in the case - three aged 19 and one aged 15", said the deputy director of the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Ruse, Commissioner Alexander Kovachev, earlier today. The spokesman for the Regional Prosecutor's Office in Ruse, Svetoslav Velikov, stated that pre-trial proceedings have been initiated in the case for two crimes - for aggravated hooliganism and for moderate bodily harm inflicted on hooligan motives. The penalties provided for these two crimes are up to five years in prison and from two to 10 years, respectively. For causing moderate bodily harm to a police officer, the legislator provides for a more severe penalty - from three to 10 years in prison.
