The fast train from Plovdiv to Sofia stopped in the middle of a field shortly before Elin Pelin this afternoon, one of the passengers said.
It turns out that the tracks in front of the train curled and it cannot continue on them.
The locomotive pushed the carriages back towards Vakarel at the permitted speed of 20 km/h for such a maneuver.
The train was transferred to the neighboring tracks at Vakarel and continued on its way.
Because of what happened, the train is hours late.
"The train left Vakarel for Elin Pelin, heading for Sofia, but shortly before Elin Pelin it stopped in the middle of a field. The tracks were so curled that it seemed that nothing could pass, and the train went backwards. We reached Vakarel and transferred to the other tracks“, Ivan Zhikov told BGNES.
“We arrived about two hours late. Everything is fine, the only problem is the condition of the tracks, which are new. There really could have been an accident if the driver had not been careful and had not stopped in time. In the end, we all thanked the driver very much, because we saw what the tracks looked like. An accident could have happened at any time“, Zhikov also told BGNES.
