China intends to triple the production of processors for artificial intelligence technologies within a year, the British newspaper Financial Times (FT) reports, citing its sources.
The country plans to open three new factories to produce processors for Huawei.
It is assumed that the total capacity of the new facilities could exceed the current total production volume of similar lines of the leading Chinese chipmaker Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation (SMIC). SMIC plans to double its capacity by 2026, the publication adds.
