The Sofia City Court did not accept the prosecutor's request to change the preventive measure "house arrest" to the more severe one - "detention in custody", for the accused of the murder of Peyo Peev, Gabriela Slavova, dariknews.bg reported.
Experts were heard and one witness was questioned.
BTA recalls that in January 2024, the city court released Peeva under house arrest, and left her mother Krasimira Trifonova in custody. The cause of Peev's death was strangulation, investigators reported at the time, and said that the car with the body of the deceased was found burned in a wooded area in the Vitosha region, on the road to the "Aleko" chalet.
The prosecutor's office has requested that Gabriela Slavova provide evidence in the future when she goes outside after permission from the court. The prosecution requested that evidence be presented that her outings so far have been for medical reasons, as the accused has indicated for many of them.
There is a danger that by applying for jobs in foreign companies, the accused Slavova will hide abroad, said a private prosecutor. He pointed out that this leaving the country was facilitated by the lack of border control with the Schengen countries and added that receiving a sentence could be a motivating factor for her to escape criminal liability.
Negative characteristic data were established for Peeva, the private prosecutor also said. According to Veliko Minkov's testimony, the man with whom Gabriela Slavova has a second child, she slapped her child, and blackmailed the murdered Peev for money to allow him to see his child. ,,There is a social report with an interview with the child. He said that his mother beat him when he was white and when they lived in Burgas," said the prosecutor. He added that her outings are becoming more frequent, even though she should be under house arrest, and noted that it is possible that her visits to the doctor are not real.
The lawyers emphasized that Gabriela Slavova has not violated the imposed measure of “house arrest“ and appears at all hearings. The measure can only be aggravated in case of non-compliance, which she has not, her lawyer pointed out. He added that the company Slavova is applying for is Bulgarian, not foreign, and that the statement of one witness is not enough to be accepted as a fact that would change the circumstances of the case.
The expert Goran Chervenyashki, who prepared the biological expertise, said that the reaction indicating the presence of blood was weakly positive. I did not continue with the examination of the material because the remaining amount is so small that it is not possible to identify it, and also so as not to destroy it. After Slavova's lawyer asked him a question about the biological affiliation of the blood, the expert replied that it could not be determined. The specialist also explained that it was possible that there was more blood if it was on objects that were not seized and fell out of the car in which the murder took place, but it is impossible for it to be erased or washed off the objects.
Petar Marinov and Mihaela Dimitrova, who prepared the Forensic Psychiatric Expertise, said that for both defendants there is no data available to confirm that they have a personality disorder or that they were insane at the time of the murder. For Krasimira Trifonova, the experts denied the connection between her health problems and their influence on her consciousness. Mihaela Dimitrova said that she had prepared a standard test with about 500 questions, but since Trifonova did not want to help complete it, she gave her a shortened version, but with the same methodology as the first one. The reliability of the test can be questioned because Krasimira refused to complete it, Dimitrova said.
Yolmaz Kalibriyan, who helped the two defendants with the renovation of their apartment, was questioned as a witness in the case. He said that Krasimira Trifonova had criticized the murdered Peyo Peev in front of him for not giving money for the maintenance of their child with Gabriela, and that he sometimes raised his voice.
Gabriela Slavova's lawyer asked the experts whether it was possible that after giving birth she had "unlocked" mental problem, and Petar Marinov replied that no evidence of postpartum depression or psychosis was found, nor was it reported by the accused herself.
