„This whole cult that is being talked about (around Ivaylo Kalushev) that he is a „lama“ etc., for me the main definition of the entire behavior that this person has is that he is a narcissistic psychopath, announced in the program „This Saturday and Sunday“ the criminal psychologist and former rector of the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Assoc. Prof. Nedelcho Stoychev in connection with the triple murder in the „Petrohan“ hut and the wanted owner of the hut – Ivaylo Kalushev, as well as two young men

According to him, the message sent to Kalushev's mother can be interpreted as an attempt to prepare a version of suicide. The text contains suggestions about a "wretched life", about a meeting "in other worlds", as well as a warning that she will hear things that she should not believe.

“He is too narcissistic to take his own life. Rather, the aim is to create the impression of suicide“, the psychologist pointed out.

Assoc. Prof. Stoychev emphasized that he does not claim the existence of proven crimes, but assumes as a hypothesis that behind the cult rhetoric and the presentation of Kalushev as a spiritual leader there may be a hidden motivation. According to him, in practice it is known that some of the so-called preferential pedophiles are looking for socially acceptable ways to access children.

„An organization that works mainly with boys aged 13-14 is a circumstance that should not be overlooked“, he said, specifying that he was speaking in principle.

He emphasized that in staged events, the perpetrator is often close to the victims – a circumstance that, in his opinion, also deserves attention.

In his comment, Assoc. Prof. Stoychev also drew attention to the parents who entrusted their children to Kalushev and his group. According to him, such behavior can be explained by severe cognitive dissonance – a psychological state in which a person rationalizes anxious decisions in order to maintain their inner balance.

„Otherwise, parents cannot remain in agreement with themselves. The alternative would be to accept that they have exposed their children to serious risk“, the psychologist explained.

According to the criminal psychologist, the available facts surrounding the discovery of the bodies do not support the suicide version. The bodies were found outside the building, they were not hidden, and there was also an attempt at arson, which, however, did not lead to the destruction of the hut.

“If it was a suicide, it is logical that this would have happened inside a room, not outside“, Stoychev pointed out.

In his words, the situation is more reminiscent of a crime that was not fully planned, but then actions were taken to delay or confuse the investigation.

In conclusion, Assoc. Prof. Stoychev stated that in his opinion, the public still does not have verified and substantial information from the investigation. He stressed the importance of autopsies and forensic examinations, which he said were key to clarifying the real cause of death.
