Pop singer from North Macedonia Daniel Kajmakoski was kidnapped on Sunday outside a nightclub in the Serbian capital Belgrade, but was later rescued by police, NOVA reported.
This was reported by the regional television channel En 1, citing Serbian authorities.
Two suspects threatened Kajmakoski with a knife and a firearm in the center of Belgrade, forced him into a car and demanded money. Police officers later stopped the car near the town of Ruma after a chase.
Kajmakoski received medical attention for his injuries. The perpetrators fled and are still at large.
The Belgrade prosecutor's office has classified the case as a kidnapping. They said the investigation is ongoing.
According to Serbian media, the singer was kidnapped while sitting in his car in the Beton Hala entertainment district. The perpetrators allegedly tied him up and demanded 20,000 euros. During the chase, the kidnappers' car hit a guardrail, after which they abandoned him and fled on foot.
Kajmakoski is popular in the former Yugoslavia and is the winner of the “MTV Best Adria Act“ award in 2015.
