The District Prosecutor's Office in Haskovo handed over to court 18-year-old Ivan Kostov, accused of the intentional murder of Magdalena Ruseva, Nova TV reported.

The state prosecution filed an indictment for causing death in a particularly torturous manner, as although a minor at the time of the act, he was able to understand the nature and meaning of what was done and to guide his actions. Ivan and Magdalena knew each other. They were students at the same school, and for some time they worked as waiters in an establishment. The two maintained friendly relations. He shared with his acquaintances that he wanted to be alone with the girl.

We recall that the body of the girl, who was declared wanted on April 26 last year, was found on April 30 in an uninhabited property in Haskovo. It was proven that the murder took place 600-700 meters from the place where the body was found - in the house of the grandfather of the alleged perpetrator.

The murder caused a strong public reaction. Nearly a year ago, young people organized a protest that escalated into an attack on the building of the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Haskovo, with the disgruntled throwing buckets of yogurt, tomatoes, eggs, stones and pirates, and breaking the windows at the entrance to the building.

At the same time, because of the case, the director of the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Ivan Rasokov resigned after the call of the Minister of Internal Affairs, and from Shumen Daniel Mitov announced that he had accepted it.

The investigation describes the chronology of the unfortunate event. On April 26, 2025, late in the evening, Ivan Kostov managed to convince the girl to visit him at the house of a relative of his. She agreed, and initially a friend of his was with them, who left at dawn. The two were left alone. During this time, a personal conflict arose between them, because Magdalena Ruseva did not want the young man to mention to friends that they had been in the house together. She even jokingly threatened him with a screwdriver she found in the room. In response, Kostov hit her twice in the face with his hand. Magdalena fell to the floor, and he took a textile tie from the bottom of a tracksuit and wrapped it around the girl's neck.

The victim tried to resist, but failed and died of suffocation. In order to cover his tracks, Ivan threw Magdalena's clothes into a garbage container, and put her body in a can, which he pushed for half a kilometer and left in an uninhabited house.
