The court remanded in custody the 39-year-old Galina Bonalova, who attacked four people with a knife in Sofia, after today's hearing on the defendant's remand. The decision of the Sofia City Court is not final and is subject to appeal, BTA indicated.
According to the court, there is a real danger that the defendant will commit another crime if she is released. In 2021, she was arrested for robbery.
Upon entering the courtroom, the 39-year-old defendant said: "I don't like Germans", news.bg reported.
The Sofia City Prosecutor's Office filed a request with the court for her detention and charged her with attempted murder. She was detained for up to 72 hours.
Before the court today, the woman added: "Since I am guilty, I would like it to be taken into account that I am a conscientious citizen of society and I committed this crime in the interest of society. I would hope for house arrest.
The prosecutor's office is requesting detention, after which she should be sent for a psychiatric examination to the Lovech prison.

The court subsequently decided to leave the accused in custody with the right to appeal the imposed measure.
According to her lawyer, an examination has been prepared that concludes that she is mentally ill and that she was unable to understand the nature and meaning of the accused.
The investigation indicates that on March 26, at around 7:30 p.m., in the parking lot of the "Vasil Levski" National Stadium, for hooligan motives, the accused made an attempt to intentionally kill two people, inflicting wounds on them in different places.
Minutes later, in a public transport bus located on "Bulgaria" Blvd. and "Cherni Vrah" Blvd., she also stabbed two women in the shoulder and right arm.
All the victims are citizens of Germany. Their lives are out of danger.
The pre-trial proceedings were initiated on March 26 under urgent conditions. Deputy Director of the State Department of Internal Affairs, Senior Commissioner Nikolay Peltekov, announced that a psychiatric examination is to be conducted.
