Action in Pomorie: 20,000 euros and campaign materials seized

Over 20,000 euros and campaign materials were seized during an operation against vote buying, conducted this morning by officers of the "Criminal Police" Department, "Economic Police" Department at the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs – Burgas and the Regional Directorate – Pomorie. This was announced by the press center of the police in Burgas.

Around 7:00 a.m. a specialized police operation was carried out, during which a commercial establishment – a grocery store and an adjacent family hotel in Pomorie, managed by a person who has evidence that he offers property benefits to residents of the city in order to persuade them to exercise their right to vote in favor of a certain candidate or political force.

During the checks carried out, the amount of 20,000 euros was found in a metal safe, in denominations of 50 and 100 euros, and another 1,715 euros were found in an office at the commercial site, distributed in several bundles of banknotes with a face value of 5 to 100 euros. Campaign materials related to a specific political party were also found on site.

The owner of the site was detained for a period of up to 24 hours. An expedited investigation has been initiated into the case.

BTA recalls that on March 27 this year, eight people were detained in the "Bought Vote" operation in Karnobatsko. Over 13,000 euros, lists and drugs were found then. Two days earlier, six other men were detained during a specialized police operation to combat crimes related to the political rights of citizens, conventional crime and drug distribution, which took place on the territory of the Fourth District Administration-Burgas. Then, lists of names were found and seized, which are known to be in connection with the upcoming elections, as well as envelopes with the amount of 50 euros in each of them. The amount of 7,000 euros was found at one of the addresses.

On March 17, ten people were detained in the Burgas district of "Komluka". Notebooks with names and addresses were found and seized, and a drug laboratory was also discovered during the operation.
