Customs officers from the Burgas Customs Territorial Directorate seized 33,692 smuggled children's toys and items during three separate inspections of sea containers with goods from China.
After a risk analysis by the “Customs Intelligence and Investigation“ department, the containers were selected for thorough customs inspections. They contained groupage goods from China to Bulgaria. The recipients were three different Bulgarian companies, and the senders were also different companies from China.
According to documents, one of the containers contained toy vending machines, children's trampolines, trampolines and spare parts for them. During the thorough inspection, 18,673 undeclared children's toys, children's watches, key chains and accessories were found. They were hidden in factory boxes of declared toy machines. A large part of the smuggled children's items have images of famous cartoon characters and protected trademarks.
In another container with groupage goods from China, undeclared 10,000 tokens and 129 spare parts, also for children's gaming devices, were found during the thorough customs inspection. In the third case, undeclared 4,890 anti-stress balls were found in boxes, hidden among declared goods, also from China.
A total of 33,692 smuggled items were seized. Three administrative criminal proceedings will be initiated in the cases.
