The District Court in Dupnitsa imposed the most severe measure of "detention in custody" on the two men arrested in the case of the illegal cigarette factory, on the grounds that they could hide or commit another similar crime.
On Thursday, during a specialized police operation in a factory near Dupnitsa, an attempt to sell the production was thwarted. 651 master boxes of cigarettes without a tax stamp and over 11 tons of cut tobacco worth over 1.3 million euros were found. Subsequently, a warehouse was also discovered in the Sofia village of Krivina, where part of the goods were stored.
The factory is among the largest discovered in our country in recent years, and the production was intended for markets in Western and Central Europe.
The defendants' measure can be appealed within three days before the District Court in Kyustendil.
