During the week, many protests against the budget were held in different places in the country. One of them took place in front of the Ministry of Culture. Dozens of representatives of the sector said: “Nothing is wrong” and demanded solutions to their problems.
We are categorically not satisfied with the culture budget, said Hristo Mutafchiev, chairman of the Union of Artists in our country, quoted by Nova TV.
“This half a percent actually repeats the 2025 budget. Only these 34 million are not 34, but 25 million on top. And these are the PMS that were adopted last year. And these PMS — once 15 and once 34 million leva - all this makes 25 million euros. These PMCs are simply added to the budget, but there is no budget growth”, said Mutafchiev.
He is categorical that the budget increase is necessary for the entire “Culture” sector to plan activities, and not just to pay for the expenses already incurred.
“We have no dialogue with Mariyan Bachev. The “Culture” sector has no dialogue with the Ministry of Culture. That is precisely why there was a protest by independent organizations that day”, said Mutafchiev.
