On December 26, 1967, Dimitar Hristov Chorbadzhiyski, known by the pseudonym Chudomir
, ended his earthly journey.
One of the most beloved Bulgarian humorist writers, artists and local historians was born on March 25, 1890 in the village of Turia near Pavel Banya
Here is the most important thing about his work:
Literary work: He is a master of the “short story“. In his works, he recreates the life and soul of the small provincial town and village. His characters – such as Neno Pantata, Kaka Siika and Pop Sava – have become collective images of the Bulgarian mentality. Artistic heritage: Chudomir is the author of over 1000 watercolors and cartoons. His most famous series is „Nashentsi“, in which he skillfully combines text and drawing to ridicule human weaknesses with good-natured humor. Public activity: For many years he was the director of the historical and ethnographic museum in Kazanlak and contributed immensely to the preservation of the cultural heritage of the region. Museum: Today in the city of Kazanlak you can visit the Literary and Art Museum “Chudomir“, located in his own home.Quote: “It's not important how long you lived, but what you did while you were alive.“
