The black comedy „Battle After Battle“ is the big winner at the British Film Awards.

The film won six BAFTA statuettes, including best film and best director for Paul Thomas Anderson. Anderson was also honored for best adapted screenplay, and Sean Penn won the prize for best supporting actor, ahead of his film colleague Benicio del Toro. The film „Battle After Battle“ prevailed over the local audience favorite - the drama „Hamnet“, as well as over the thriller „Sinners“, which has a record number of „Oscar“ nominations.

The surprise of the evening was presented by Robert Aramayo, who won the award for best actor for his role in the film “I Swear“, competing with colleagues such as Leonardo DiCaprio and Ethan Hawke.

Jesse Buckley was named best actress for her role as Agnes, William Shakespeare's wife, in “Hamnet“.

The ceremony was graced by Prince William and Princess Kate as guests of honor. It was also their first joint public appearance since the arrest of the prince's uncle, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, on Thursday.
