On World Theater Day, the Union of Artists traditionally presented the "Icarus" awards.

Plamen Dimov received the distinction for leading male role, and Radina Dumanyan was the winner among actresses. Vesselin Mezekiev and Irini Zhambonas were awarded for supporting male and female roles. The most exciting award for young actors - the one for debut - is awarded to Paola Maravilla.

The distinction for directing went to Stoyan Radev for the production "Berlin, Berlin" at the "Plovdiv" theater. This is also the best performance.

The distinction for outstanding contribution to Bulgarian theater is awarded to Aneta Sotirova, for pedagogical activity to Prof. Bonyo Lungov, and the "Icarus" for honor and dignity goes to the set designer Maria Dimanova.

This year, the ceremony is held under the patronage of President Iliana Yotova. The head of state presented an honorary sign to the president and the chairman of the Union of Artists Hristo Mutafchiev.

You can watch the ceremony on Saturday, March 28, on BNT 1 at 10:40 p.m. All ticket proceeds will go to the Health Fund of the Union of Artists, which supports artists in life-saving operations.
