A register of professional writers, artists, filmmakers and translators will be created for the first time in the Ministry of Culture. This is clear from the project published for public discussion on the public consultation portal of the Council of Ministers.
The aim is to facilitate the creation of specific policies in the field of culture. It is currently impossible to identify freelance artists, recalls the Bulgarian National Radio.
After the creation of the public electronic register, all persons practicing in the field of arts and culture will be quickly and effectively identified, it is written in the explanatory memorandum to the draft regulation.
Those employed in the field of culture will have to register in a specially created database. The main activities that will be indicated by applicants in order to be entered in the register are performing arts (theater, music, dance, circus), literature (including artistic translation), visual and fine arts (including crafts and design), audiovisual arts, cultural heritage, management of cultural products.
According to the Ministry of Culture, without the proposed electronic register, a large number of artists are practically untraceable, with the exception of the few who are self-employed.
The creation of the register will contribute to the identification of the sector, and in the future it will be the basis for formulating real policies in the field of arts and culture.
