British actor John Alford (real name Shannon), convicted of raping two teenage girls, has died in prison two months after being sentenced, the British Prison Service told The Guardian.
A Prison Service spokesman said John Shannon died on March 13, 2026, at HMP Bure prison in Norfolk. The cause of death was not disclosed.
Alford was 54 years old. He was convicted in January this year after being found guilty of sexually assaulting two underage girls.
The court found him guilty of four counts of sexual activity with a 14-year-old girl, as well as charges of sexual assault and sexual assault on a 15-year-old girl. The incidents took place in 2022 at his home in Hertfordshire.
During the trial, investigators said the actor committed the crimes at a friend's party when the girls were drunk.
The actor is known for his roles in the TV series “London is Burning“ and the BBC show “Grange Hill“
