Billionaire Jeff Bezos and his fiancée Lauren Sanchez tied the knot in Venice last night in a lavish wedding that attracted star guests and a lot of tabloid buzz, the Associated Press reported, quoted by BTA.
The couple held their wedding ceremony on Friday night, and Sanchez posted a photo on Instagram of herself, shining in a white dress, standing next to the tuxedo-clad Bezos, the fourth-richest man in the world.
It was the second day of events spread across the Italian lagoon city - something that further complicated an event that would have been a huge logistical undertaking even for land.
Dozens of private jets were packed into Venice airport and yachts cruised the city's famed waterways. Athletes, celebrities, influencers and business leaders gathered to enjoy the extravaganza, which was as much a testament to the couple's love as it was to their extraordinary wealth.
The heady atmosphere was reminiscent of actor George Clooney's wedding to human rights activist Amal Alamuddin, which also took place in Venice in 2014, the AP notes.
