These local elections are seen as his bid for the wonderful future of the state with a capital D. Naturally, he will throw everything at it to show his supremacy.
Here, Borisov should consider whether it is beneficial for him to continue to give way to the phenomenon or whether he is starting to look too weak. With a high voter turnout, these plans with a capital D would be impossible, because no matter how much you buy votes, no matter how much you pressure and compromise the locals, you can't prevail over the people's will - if there is one. There is none at this stage.
People obviously don't see an alternative to Peevski among his competitors. However, the wheel is turning and they won't be on top forever. And when you're on top for a long time, you forget this fact.
