Years ago, I dreamed that one day Bulgaria would have institutions like the US. But it never occurred to me that instead of us rising to their institutions - they would resemble ours in just 100 days. A very similar playbook. This was commented on "Facebook" by Evgeniy Kanev.
What are Trump's four main goals so far:
(1) To cut money from healthcare, social security and services and education - these are the three pillars of modern democracy that make the difference between a developed and a developing country - all at the expense of the poorest and the middle class. This is a return to the so-called Gilded Age, better known in American history, however, for its robber barons.
(2) To direct the money for low taxes and profits to his business environment (in the form of corrupt orders) and his family - in the largest influence peddling in history (last week alone, at least $2 billion went into Trump's family coffers in the form of a donation to his foundation from the UAE, and on the same day Biden's ban on Nvidia exporting the latest generation of chips to the UAE was lifted). And for … own security and debauchery: millions of dollars go to security for weekly golf games, and the planned military parade for King Trump's 79th birthday is estimated at nearly 300 million dollars.
(3) To make the lives of American companies and foreign countries miserable through tariffs, so that they come to earn his trust in the well-known way
(4) War, blockade and crushing everything that prevents him from arbitrariness: judges, law firms, universities, even the Constitution.
Doesn't it sound painfully familiar - although EU membership will prolong this process in our country for years.
However, just remember this year:
(1) Cutting the costs that brought us closer to Europe:
GERB's powerful media campaign for the 18 billion leva hole - a waste of budget and funds and the need to put public finances in order. Result: cutting social spending, freezing salaries and benefits
(2) Where do the savings go - in “investments” in BDB, state-owned companies and road companies for the benefit of King Peevski. And with an unknown debt of 7 billion leva.
(3) To get Peevski through his media mouthpieces as the only one who “solves” problems in the state and everyone to go begging to him. If not - the prosecutor's office or the services may come to visit him;
(4) Fight against all who hinder: cases against the leaders of Promyanta and DB; fight against Dogan's people; persecution of inconvenient judges; crushing everything legible in the media
Every dictatorship invents a narrative for itself - the more credible it is, the more vital it is.
Trump says he is doing what he was elected to do - but for years, with disinformation and fake news ("post-truth"), he has been building narratives for easy solutions to difficult problems with the help of social networks - with key Russian help.
Well, Peevski is already doing the same - he has built a media empire for his narratives, and the Russians - completely serve him. Now he is even turning the narrative around: he has released a film saying that the State Security Service, whose offspring are Dogan, Radev and the leaders of the PPDB, is to blame for everything. And the website is called: ”Front against Corruption”.
The difference with Trump: Peevski always talks about the people, but he still can't say - I govern because the people asked for it.
