Is a common presidential candidate of PP-DB and GERB inevitable?

PP-DB must negotiate for a common presidential candidate with GERB, so as not to fall overboard

Comment by Ivaylo Noyzi Tsvetkov:

The living Obi-Wan of the right, Ivan Kostov, suggested that the democratic community consider and even enter into negotiations for a common presidential candidacy with GERB.

I have also mentioned a similar possibility in my text for DV, but I argued that PP-DB should enter into negotiations with GERB ONLY if they want to win these elections. Judging by the latest tragic example with Mr. Lozan Panov, they MUST want to win them. Accordingly, they should find and offer their new Kennedy to the other types of Euro-Atlantics, and not push their Mondale or Dukakis onto the stage once again, so that GERB will go to the runoff again.

Will they "turn the tables" PP-DB?

However, I continue boldly, inspired for the first time by Obi-Wan Kostov: The next year and something for the right-wing democrats from PP-DB turns into a series of several Armageddons. After attempts to split it, this already "loose" coalition is faced with a Sartrean choice - whether to humble their differences or turn the tables. And they have not been able to "turn the tables" in any other sense for I don't know how many years, i.e. the mass of people to believe them that they are still the moral choice.

Something has changed in general after the "assembly" - it is now difficult for many to continue with this claim to a moral precept after the doubts raised by the cases with the mayors in Burgas and especially - with Sofia. At the same time, however, I completely agree with the protesters that Blagomir Kotsev and in general the "Blagovites" from the PP-DB are most likely cooking them up according to the old cop model. For which their leaders are also to blame.

The big task before the elections

However, I dispiache, as the Italians call it, the situation is as follows: first there is the predicate dispute about the euro, which no one will win politically. And because I often hear "reflections and passions" What would be the new major task facing Bulgaria, I argue that the aspiration should be only one - towards a "welfare state" - i.e. a state that guarantees the well-being of all its inhabitants. But for the moment, none of the politicians is up to this task.

And why "Armageddons"? From the PP-DB's point of view, after the euro, presidential elections are coming (unless there are early parliamentary elections, and it seems there won't be). Ergo, the so-called leaders there should be excited that a possible collapse of this coalition would sew everything back together, i.e. they would separately take something like 8 and 6%. It seems to me that the future battle is really for the pro-European and this probably means that, quite amusingly speaking, we should support "Bayern" or "PSG", and not "CSKA (Moscow)". This should be the survival mechanism of today's Europe, while it still receives Russian gas, which no one is talking about.

The idea before the PP-DB is simple: stop arguing about nothing, humble yourself and listen to those "for Blago", go, talk to them, see what the political ambitions are there and if you are going to be a political force, enough with the petty local shenanigans. Take control of the state, tear it away from the status quo. Can you? Or is this a rhetorical question?

So that GERB, Peevski and Radev do not dominate

Can you get off social media and oppose Rumen Radev? Because he looks like a Facebook troll right now. And no one asks him, Mr. President, when you had power through the caretaker governments, what exactly did you do? And how is it possible in the role of president to create a completely new disgusting environment, as if the Constitution is somehow wishful thinking, and does not explicitly say what you can and cannot do?

"Armageddons" again: the PP-DB will have to position itself in relation to the future presidential project, for which it is currently somehow maliciously seeking the personal approval of political figures. Just imagine a presidential party that, somewhere at the end of 2026 or the beginning of 2027, eventually measures up to GERB itself under the benign constructive gaze of "New Beginning", while Kostadinov and the "right" are hovering there somewhere around eight percent.

It would not be unexpected. It would be unexpected if the right-wing forces really gathered together again in a fist. It doesn't look like that now - the "urban" are already seriously thinking about a possible collapse of the coalition and are playing the beautiful "Songe d'Automne" on the deck of the "Titanic".

We are already talking about sunset

In this sense, Bulgarian politics at the moment once again resembles a series of drawings by relatively gifted children, but not art. It is in a state of "kidulthood" - a gang of immature adults who have now fallen to fulfill their childhood (oligarchic, bourgeois or simply stupid) dreams. The naivety of the so-called transition, combined with extreme cynicism, still crushes almost every attempt at an intelligent way out.

And what should the PP-DB do? Here, very simply:

- To part with the idea that someone likes them a priori;

- To unite with GERB for the presidential elections (and with those we are not talking about) with a pinched nose;

- To produce new Gen Z leaders - these have failed to the last one in terms of service and status quo, and the young are laughing at them.

I strongly doubt that such a thing is possible, because they do not listen to Kostov, nor to the younger Jedi.

And since I am a clairvoyant, I will tell you what will happen: PP-DB will produce an unelectable candidate who will not reach the runoff at the expense of the Gerbaji candidate, who will win. Then, in the early elections in September 2026, which the government self-initiated due to the quarrels with the euro, they will rank behind Kostadinov and "New Beginning". So, in the era of artificial superintelligence, the supposedly most modernist party and community will already lose its only exceptional selling point - i.e. anti-corruption and anti-status quo.

In other words, we are already talking about a sunset, but not as beautiful as in "Tequila Sunrise" by "Eagles". At least it talks about people who work and don't think that everything is theirs.

With these "leaders" of the democratic community - so much.
