CSKA coach Dusan Kerkez may have been a minute away from being fired from the club, but in the last seconds his team scored two goals against Septemvri for their first victory in the championship, BTA reported.
"The way we played the game, it should have been easier. We could have led after the first 20 minutes by two or three goals. It has been very difficult in the last 2 months in CSKA. But we deserved the victory statistically as well. I want to congratulate all the players on the victory. Every match is more difficult. I understand that CSKA has to play better and score more, we talk about this every day. I am sure it will happen. This victory is from me and the team for the owner, who is giving everything to get the team back to the top," said the Bosnian.
"The match was not at a high level, let's be honest. We made a lot of mistakes with Slavia, although we showed character. We saw a team, we were all together. This is also visible on the pitch, that we are together. I understand the fans, but it is important where we will be at the end of May. We know how much work we all have to do in the club. I am proud of the players," he added.
"The goal is important, but character is more important. Everyone who plays or comes on as a substitute must bring something more. Turitsov also showed quality. We are not close to how CSKA should play, but it will happen step by step," the specialist believes.
"I understand the fans, I wanted it to be 3:0. But it has been like that for many years. The atmosphere at this stadium is not the same, the opponents are not very afraid of CSKA, we do not respect them as much as we should. I have been through difficult things. I am sure that the fans are here because they love the team. Remember my words that this team will win something at the end of the season. We did not talk about leaving, but about how we should work. The owner and all the directors are looking to do something better. It is easy to change the coach, I am not one of the great coaches of CSKA, but we are trying," concluded Dusan Kerkez.
