Everton will arrive at “Anfield“ with their heads held high in today's Merseyside derby, and Wayne Rooney believes the “Blues“ are capable of pulling off something big against Liverpool. The “Reds“ have made a perfect start to their title defence and are absolute favourites. However, Everton have found their rhythm – with seven points from their first four games and unbeaten since the opening day against Leeds.
”Everton look dangerous – both in attack with the new signings and solid in defence. David Moyes has brought back the spirit and culture of the club. I wouldn't be surprised if we can take something from this game”, said the former top scorer of the “caramels“ on his show “The Wayne Rooney Show”.
Rooney admitted that he himself has not managed to win any of his derbies as an Everton player, and the tension surrounding these matches has always been “terrible“.
“When you lose, it's hard for you all week because the Liverpool fans don't forgive you“, he says. Despite his personal bitter experience, the English football legend believes that right now Everton has a chance to break the “Anfield“ curse, which has been weighing on them since 1999.
