Medvedev triumphs at the Almaty tennis tournament

For the Russian tennis player, this was the first trophy since May 2023

Second seed Daniil Medvedev (Russia) won the title of the hard court tennis tournament in Almaty (Kazakhstan) with a prize fund of over $ 1 million, BTA reported.

In the final, Medvedev prevailed over the eighth seed Corentin Mouté (France) 7:5, 4:6, 6:3 in two hours and 38 minutes of play.

For the Russian tennis player, this was the first trophy since May 2023, and the final was his first at a hard court tournament in Indian Wells in 2024.

Mouth led with an early break in the first set, but the Russian tied at 4:4, and a little later with his second break in the set he reached 7:5. The second set started in an identical fashion, with Daniil Medvedev levelling at 3:3, but Corentin Moutet immediately returned the break this time and pulled away 5:3 to close out the set at 6:4.

Medvedev made a key break for a 5:3 lead in the decisive third set and ended the match on his own serve on his first match point.
