Manchester United defeated Brighton at home 4:2 in a spectacular match from the ninth round of the English championship. Brian Mbemo scored two goals for the "Red Devils", while Casemiro and Mateusz Cunha scored once each, BTA reported.

The third consecutive victory for United in the championship was marked by Cunha's opening goal in the 24th minute. Exactly 10 minutes later, Casemiro doubled the lead for the 20-time champions of England, and Mbemo made it 3:0 in the 61st minute.

Strong minutes followed for the "Seagulls". Former United player Danny Welbeck reduced the visitors' deficit in the 74th minute, and his teammate Charalambos Kostoulas also scored with a header in extra time in the match at "Old Trafford".

Brian Mbemo made the final score 4:2 with his goal in the sixth minute of extra time.

The team from Manchester recorded a fourth consecutive success in front of their own audience and climbed to fourth place with 16 points.

Brighton is in 12th position so far with 12 points.

Before the match, Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim did not leave Arne Slott's sharp comments unanswered. The Portuguese, known for his tough character, replied laconically but firmly: “I don't care!”

The Liverpool coach has not hidden his irritation with United's style of play for several days, even hinting that Amorim's team behaves “like a smaller club“. After the 1-2 loss at “Anfield“, Slott expressed dissatisfaction that “with such talented players“ Manchester United preferred to “play long balls“ and to stand “in a low block“.

The Dutchman didn't stop there - after Liverpool's victory in the Champions League against Eintracht Frankfurt, he again took issue with his Manchester rivals.

Amorim, however, took the attacks with complete indifference.

“I don't care what Slot says or what people think of our team,” he said at his Friday press conference. - I can judge for myself when we can and should perform better. But sometimes you have to adapt to the game.”

After the famous victory at “Anfield“ United goalkeeper Saint-Lamens also defended the strategy, explaining that long passes were key to avoiding Liverpool's high pressure and clearly paid off.

Amorim finished with a clear focus on the next match against Brighton: “I don't need anyone to judge my team. I do it myself. I know we have to play better with the ball and we will try to show that in the next game”.
