Napoli returned to the top of the Italian championship after a 3-1 win in the derby with Inter (Milan), taking advantage of a rather controversial penalty, but lost their Belgian star Kevin de Bruyne due to injury.
Inter, which had seven consecutive victories in all competitions to date, remains 4th with 15 points and 3 behind today's opponent.
In the 32nd minute, after the assistant referee's signal, the head referee Maurizio Mariani pointed to a penalty after he was told that Henrikh Mkhitaryan had thrown Giovanni Di Lorenzo off balance. Mkhitaryan was injured in the situation and left the game, and Kevin de Bruyne scored. But he grabbed the back of his thigh during the execution and also had to leave the field.
9 minutes into the second half, Scott McTominay broke free from the offside trap and, after a pass from Leonardo Spinazzola, managed to score for 2:0.
However, Inter returned to the game after the VAR system saw a high hand and a stoppage of the ball by Alessandro Buongiorno. Çalhanoğlu scored for 1:2.
Napoli decided the match with a third goal by Andre Frank Zambo Angisa for the final 3:1.
