Five world records in small pool swimming fell during the World Cup competitions in Canada, BTA reports. Australian Lani Pallister (pictured) set a world record in the 800-meter freestyle, after completing the distance in 7:54.00 minutes. The previous world record holder was the most successful swimmer in history, American Katie Ledecky. At the 2022 World Cup in the USA, she achieved a time of 7:57.42 minutes.

The 23-year-old Pallister won the Olympic title with the 4x200m freestyle relay at Paris 2024. She is also a seven-time world champion, winner of five gold medals at the World Championships in a 25m pool.

The Dutchman Kaspar Corbo set a new world record in the 200m breaststroke at the same event. He finished in 1:59.52 minutes. The previous record belonged to Russia's Kirill Prigoda (2:00.16 minutes) from the 2018 World Championships in China.

American Kate Douglas, Australian Kylie McKeown and Hungarian Hubert Kos also set records at the tournament. Douglas clocked 49.93 seconds in the 100-meter freestyle, beating her own record (50.19) set on October 19. Kosh broke the world record in the 100-meter backstroke with a time of 48.16 seconds, and four-time Olympic champion McKeown set a world record in the 200-meter backstroke with a time of 1:57.33 minutes.
