Stoyan Koprivlenski lost in the semifinals of the final tournament of the K-1 World Max series in the Japanese capital Tokyo and failed to reach a second world title, BTA reported.

The Bulgarian kickboxing star prevailed over Thai Hercules Fetsimean by unanimous decision in his first fight of the 70-kilogram competition, after dominating all three rounds.

The 31-year-old from Burgas faced Dutchman Daryl Verdonk in his second match, but despite having the upper hand in the first two rounds and leading in the score, he was knocked out at the beginning of the third part and the match was stopped.

Thus, Koprivlenski failed to defend his K-1 world title. The competition in Tokyo is held in a non-standard format, with three wins in one day required to win the trophy.
