CSKA 1948 won over Beroe 2:1 in a match from the 17th round of the First League, BTA reports. Mamadou Diallo and Borislav Tsonev were accurate for the hosts, while Alberto Salido scored for the Stara Zagora team. CSKA 1948 recorded a victory after three consecutive matches without success in the championship, but thus established itself in second place, five points behind the leader Levski, who will host Septemvri tomorrow. Josu Uribe made his second debut as head coach for Beroe.
The start of the match was delayed by half an hour due to the dense fog that was spreading over Bistrica. In the end, despite the difficult weather conditions, the match was decided to go ahead, but both teams agreed to play without VAR for tackles and line-of-sight situations due to poor visibility. However, the technology was available for other game situations, such as penalty checks.
This was the case in the 8th minute, when Facundo Constantini fouled Mamadou Diallo in the penalty area. Referee Todor Kirov initially did not award a penalty, but after reviewing the situation with VAR, he pointed to the penalty spot. Diallo accurately converted the penalty kick in the 13th minute to put CSKA 1948 ahead.
The hosts controlled the initiative and made several serious mistakes before the break. In the 29th minute, Borislav Tsonev failed to find the target from a comfortable situation, and at the very end of the first half, Tsonev was again in a shooting position, but sent the ball out.
Seconds after Tsonev's miss, the guests from Stara Zagora came close to an equalizer. Alberto Salido was on target, and he made no mistake from close range after a low cross from Nane from the left. Beroe came close to a complete turnaround in the 65th minute, when Alberto Salido crossed to Costantini, who jumped over Traore and headed the ball, but the ball hit the right side post. Just two minutes later, Borislav Tsonev made up for his first-half mistakes by scoring the winning goal, sending the ball into the empty net from close range after a pass from Brian Sobrero.
